The text files in the “File Descriptions” folder contain complete descriptions of all disks available in LOGIC’s Macintosh library. They are stored as TeachText files. It is usually helpful to begin looking at disks with the HIGHEST numbers as they are the most recent. Older disks will often contain earlier versions of some of the more popular utilities and it is usually preferable to use the most recent version. Quite often, the MOST RECENT VERSION of a utility or extension is on a CFS series disk, so review these disk descriptions first! Very early disks may contain programs that only operate with older versions of the operating system or may require that you are using an early model Macintosh such as the Mac Plus. Disks that do not work on your equipment may be exchanged for other disks in the library. Please ask if you are concerned. If you have a colour capable Mac such as a Colour Classic, Mac LC, LC II, LC III, LC 475, LC 520, Classic II, SE/30, etc. you may be able to use programs from the Macintosh II section of the library (MII disks). Have a look at these as well.

They can be ordered electronically on the LOGIC Information System (BBS) at (416) 487-7921 (members ONLY line) or (416) 487-9771. They can also be purchased at the monthly meetings, held on the first Tuesday of each month at the North Toronto Memorial Community Centre, 200 Eglinton Avenue West. Feel free to come to the Apple II meeting on the third Tuesday of the month if you can’t make it to the Mac meeting. Many of the programs in the LOGIC library are NOT in the public domain (i.e. FREE or freeware), but are “shareware”. Shareware is a method of distributing software where the user is given the chance to evaluate the software on their own computer before paying for it. If you like the program, you are asked to send a fee to its author. If you don’t like it, you are asked to erase it from your disks. The money you pay for a LOGIC disk is to cover the costs of downloading, copying and mailing out the disks. IT DOES NOT CONSTITUTE PAYMENT FOR THE SOFTWARE ITSELF! If you support the principle of shareware by registering your software with its author, you will continue to enjoy the benefits of high quality inexpensive software. If you don’t pay your share, the well will dry up. You will have a far smaller choice of software and will have to pay much more for it.
